The ANA (Acoustic Neuroma Association) in the US hosted a support mailing list for many years. It was very popular and allowed newly diagnosed patients to get help from people who had already gone through the research phase. In February 2005, ANA decided to replace the mailing list format with a web based ANA Discussion Forum.

While the forum format can be more convenient for people who don't want to receive a steady stream of emails, the mailing list format allows for more interactive "conversation". It also allows participants to send attachments. So for those who prefer the friendliness of the mailing list format we are providing this free mailing list as a substitute for the ANA list.

Anyone is welcome to become a member of the mailing list. Simply subscribe or unsubscribe here.

When you subscribe or unsubscribe you will receive an email message asking you to confirm. No action will be taken until we have received your confirmation. Note: if you have an AOL address you may not receive the confirmation; if so, kindly let us know at this address so that we may complete the operation manually.

GUIDELINES

This list is intended for AN (acoustic neuroma = vestibular schwannoma) patients, their friends, relatives and care-givers to exchange information and provide mutual support. Should medical professionals wish to participate in any professional mode, they are requested to make their status, qualifications and area of expertise known when posting.

It is free, in both senses of the word.

Messages sent to the list are immediately received by all members, with no human vetting or censorship. The right of others not to share your opinion must be respected – Please disagree as forcefully as you like, but keep it polite and factual, and free from SPAM of a commercial, political or religious nature. If you want to use abbreviations we have a list of common acronyms.

Abuse will not be tolerated and those who repeatedly post abusively will be barred.
