Have other more serious problems, so don't discuss tinnitus much.
I think I have the tinnitus all the time and have just become use to it. It is like a low ringing from a alarm clock.
Surgical treatment for tinnitus is tentatively scheduled for December 2005.
my tinnitus seems to change from time to time .sometimes it is just a buzzing sound other times it could high pitched or could even sound like my clothes dryer is on.
After my surgery the tinnitus became worse. It drives me up the walls. I do my best to ignore it, but it just doesn't
Scheduled for surgery. Have not had it yet. Tinnitus started in earnest in conjunction with a sudden drop in hearing ability.
chirping, popping sounds almost gone, hissing still there but no ringing
Still watching and waiting after 2 years. 1.3cm---no change in size. Tinnitis continues.
I got FSR 3 years ago. Mild tinnitus started 2 weeks after treatment. (no tinnitus before treatment. Tinnitus is worse when I have a cold or when I
presently 6 weeks since cyberknife, tinnitus is sometimes higher pitched than before treatment, fluctuates day to day.
I found the AN by having hearing loss. I went through FSR at Hopkins in November 01. I have ringing in my ear all the time but it is not bad.4 years post treatment the tumor has shrunk 20%.Thankful !!!
After I had surgery, I had Gamma Knife Treatment. That is when the tinnitis got worse. It got much louder a few weeks afterwards
Translab surgery scheduled for May 20, 2005. I am certain all will be lost at that point.
Right after gamma knife procedure the tinnitus remained, just recently (4 mos later) it worsened.
My tinnitus was very sporadic before my surgery. Maybe once or twice a year, with the duration of a week or so each time. After my surgery the tinnitus was very bad at first. After a month or so it started to diminish. I am now 11 months post surgery. The tinnitus is constant but only noticable when it is quiet.
I was diagnosed with AN in my left ear a year and half ago. I have noticed hearing loss in my left ear since 2002. After several consultations with my G.P. 3 hearing tests and 2 MRI I was told in January 2005 that I had AN. I have been under observation since, however my last MRI in April showed in had grown approx a mm. Not a large growth but enough to know that it is time to do something about this. I have been to see Dr. Nedeslki at Sunnybrooke Hospital in Toronto Canada, and I am now looking at possible Gamma Knife or FSR. My Radiatin Oncocologist is Dr. Mai Tsao at Sunnybrook. Other than the constent humming in my left ear and the odd headache, I have no other symptoms.
My surgery is scheduled for Feb 2006. I
I guess I am lucky not to have tinnitus, either before or after surgery. My surgery was performed by Dr. Gantz at the University of Iowa. I am very pleased with the care and surgery I had there.
I asked my doctor about the tinnitus and he said it was something I would have to live with. I have noticed that wearing headphones at work causes the tinnitus to worsen. The less amount of time I spend using headphones, the less severe the tinnitus.
My AN surgeries were in
My tinmitus was a direct result of my surgery - middle fossa
I did not have tinnitus until after the AN Removal
with ringing in ear i also feel a pain in shoulders(frozen shoulder). My REPORTS of CT-scan,AUDIOMETERY E.C.G. all are NORMAL. sent my answer on my E-mail ID
I had quite a bit of "head noise" before surgical removal of my 4+ cm AN. My surgery was over a year and a half ago, and I have not had a single episode of tinnitus since.
none... i hear nothing!
learning to live with it
the tinnitus i had before was no where near as bad as it is now but it was present on and off. Now its 24/7 loud and muliple sounds and buzzing and static.
I feel that if the doctors to whom I reported my tinnitis were more caring, there would have geen a large possibility that my AN would have been discovered before it grew out of bounds -- pressing between the brainstem and cerebellum
I am having FSR at Johns Hopkins June 1-7
I miss the quiet.
watch & waiting 4 yrs, AN is 1.8cm
Went to occasional pop concerts. Never abused my hearing with constant loud noises.
Stress and fatique seems to make it worse. What is more noticeable to me is the time periods without tinnitus. The silence is very noticeable. The silence is deafening.
My tinnitus is very mild, like the sound you hear from flourescent light bulbs. I barely noticed it before surgery and I still barely notice it unless I
I did not have tinnitus until after my surgery when Cranial Nerve 8 was cut. My only presenting symptoms of my AN was worsening headaches.
I had no tinnitus before GK, but had horrible tinnitus immediately after GK and it has never left to this day. However, it has gotten much better and there are a lot of days when I do not have it at all. If I go into a loud environment, the first thing that happens is my ear clogs up and the tinnitus starts.
What is available to help reduce tinnitus?
Sometimes also get weird buzzing in that ear too.
i think i can tolerate it, i
I have very mild tinnitus, I only notice it when in a very quiet room. I feel very lucky!!!
Had no tinnitus until several months after the surgery in Jan.
I did not have tinnitus until after the ear test where they insert plugs into your ears, connected to wires & a machine - like an EKG. I
surgery due December 15, 2005
Before surgery, no tinnitus nor loss of hearing. After translab, tinnitus 24x7 and deaf on tumor side. Sometimes it sounds crackly, like a bad stereo speaker.
I would be interested if somebody there knows anything about auditory brainstem tinnitus. My tumor was up and down brainstem clipping the auditory nerve at the root. The tumor went down to C1 from pons. This includes 4th ventricle and vermis.
no surgery yet
I currently have tinnitus problems that have lingered with me for several years (possibly ten). But I am waiting for an MRI to determine AN possibility. My father has NF2.
I just recently (17 July 2006)got diagnosed with AN, still looking at the different options available.
The doctor dealing with my AN does not treat the tinnitus as a serious problem of its own.
just diagnosed -- not treated yet
tinnitus was softened a bit after surgery. Some times it is very loud. Mostly it can be handled by playing music or t.v.
I have no hearing nerve - but still have the tinnitus. It changes slightly when I close my eyes..
has intermittent left ear tinnitus prior to treatment. During CK treatment, hearing nerve hit and tinnitus migrated to both ears. Now 1-mo post treatment, right ear tinnitus lessening, left ear tinnitus more enhanced.
was recently diagnosed. am uninsured so saved up to see and ear specialist. i can hear sound in left ear but nothing i can understand and have very high pitch buzzing and crackleing sounds. if i am in a room with to many different sounds my headaches are worse and i have nausia and general confution.also balance is worse and dizziness even while sitting
I am awaiting to see my AN specialist.
Have had tinnitus since 1987 but flared up in 2002 in which time an MRI discovered a small 3mm AN. Did watch & wait for 3 years. In July 2005 it was 5 mm so had CK. One day after treatment, new tinnitus appeared on AN side. No other complications and hearing is normal in AN ear
I will have surgery at House Clinic in LA next month. I was undergoing a chemo type therapy for Hepatitis C when tinnitus started. I feel that it brought on the symptoms.
I had the tinnitus almost a year before the an was diagnosed. I was told the tinnitus was an age thing ( I had just turned 40) and due to a viral ear infection
I considered my tinnitus to be severe until I learned to live with it...since I have not sought treatment, it must be mild. Noisy environments exacerbate it and the effects seem to linger or maybe I am just more aware of the tinnitus when the environment again grows quiet. March 17, 2004 I woke up with hearing loss, shortly thereafter noticing the tinnitus. Gamma Knife was June 30, 2004 with no change in anything but a decrease in balance. December 2004 MRI showed slight tumor shrinkage.
Level of tinnitus seems to be affected by how tiredness, stress. Also very affected by type of drink ie tea, coffee and fizzy sweetened drinks - don
Diagnosed last spring. Am waiting a year for another MRI and will decide what treatment, if any, based on those results.
Confirm
seems worse when tired.
Tumor was in the auditory brainstem area, (not IAC) pons and below to C1. The tinnitus is linked to the vestibular, proprioceptive, reflexes.
I don
.6mm AN, watching since 2001, no change since then except unexplainable sudden substantial hearing loss on AN side recently.
I had severe tinnitus which I finally went to the ent for. Lost all hearing in that ear so they did an MRI to find out why. Found an AN tumor. Radiated it, and no more tinnutius
I am not remembering at what point I realized my tinnitus was worse after surgery. I do know that I had not experienced tinnitus in my right ear until after the surgery. As stated above my surgery was on the left side.
I have noise-induced tinnitus. I have had an MRI scan and fortunately in my case I do not have an acoustic neuroma.
My tinnitus worsened considerably after surgery, esp. after my 7/12 nerve graft.
As I recover from my AN sugery, I have noticed that my tinnitus has changed. Not necessarily worsened, but changed. For instance, my tinnitus sounds (to me) like someone tapping on some tin-foil. But last week another tinnitus pattern occured that sounded completely different than the pattern I was used to.
WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY HELP FOR THIS?
I didn
